Rathbone was created in 1991 by our Chairman Geoff Cole who after nearly a quarter of a century with Saatchi and Saatchi decided to start his own advertising agency, this time just outside of London, but closer to his home in Essex.
Geoff had originally planned to keep the agency small looking after just a few select clients, but after just a few years of trading the company had already swelled in size and he knew more help was going to be needed.
Rathbone continued to grow and due to many clients requests eventually created a design team that continued to provide the same high quality service that they were used to but this time in the form of advertisements and graphic design. These high standards continued through the design team and the success eventually forced a move to a new bigger building. Rathbone eventually found its new home in Chelmsford, the county town of Essex.
Other extensions followed including Rathbone Digital and now the Rathbone Group of companies proudly provides all three core services completing the full service advertising offering that it does today.
